About

Dr. Andrew Kaiser is a longtime veterinarian, wildlife rehabilitation advocate, and community leader based in Quincy, Illinois. With a veterinary career spanning more than four decades, he is known for his commitment to compassionate animal care, clinical excellence, client communication, and service to the community.

After earning his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Missouri in 1975, Dr. Kaiser began his professional career at West Quincy Veterinary Clinic, where he practiced from 1976 through 1984. During those formative years, he developed expertise in veterinary medicine, surgery, diagnostics, and animal care while building strong relationships throughout the Quincy region.

In July 1984, Dr. Kaiser founded Katherine Road Animal Hospital, a veterinary practice dedicated to comprehensive, patient-focused care. Under his leadership, the hospital became the first veterinary facility in the region to earn accreditation from the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA), maintaining that distinction for approximately 20 years. This achievement reflected his dedication to maintaining high professional standards and continually improving veterinary care.

Throughout his career, Dr. Kaiser treated a wide variety of animals, including companion animals, small mammals, exotic species, and wildlife. His practice also worked closely with the City of Quincy Animal Shelter, becoming one of the few facilities in the area to provide specialized veterinary services for shelter animals and wildlife cases.

One of Dr. Kaiser’s passions involved wildlife rehabilitation, particularly the care and recovery of raptors and injured birds of prey. He developed and directed a raptor rehabilitation center where he trained staff in feeding, treatment protocols, and rehabilitation techniques. He also helped educate members of the public about wildlife stewardship and responsible care practices.

Beyond clinical medicine, Dr. Kaiser managed every aspect of veterinary hospital operations, including staff development, pharmaceutical oversight, diagnostics, surgery coordination, and client communication. He emphasized education, accountability, and compassionate service while fostering an environment built on trust and professionalism.

Clients frequently recognized Dr. Kaiser for his attentive and compassionate approach to veterinary medicine. He has long believed that listening carefully to clients is essential for providing quality care and building meaningful relationships with pet owners.

Outside of veterinary medicine, Dr. Kaiser has devoted significant time to faith and community service. He has served on the board of Chaddock, contributed more than 20 years to Kiwanis International, mentored students, worked as a substitute teacher, and supported organizations including the American Red Cross, Meals on Wheels, and local soup kitchens.

A devoted Christian, Dr. Kaiser remains active within his church community, participating in singing, serving as a lay reader, and welcoming parish members. His lifelong commitment to service reflects both his professional philosophy and his dedication to helping others through compassion, humility, and leadership.
